Kitting > General Guidelines in Kitting Module Implementation

To implement the Kitting module, perform the following procedures:

1.Access the General Information page of the IC Module Setup function to set up the general parameters when creating kit item maintenance records and recording transactions.

2.Set up kit inventory items by creating new kit items with or without the use of a template. Refer to the Kitting in Inventory Type and Inventory Maintenance section for the detailed discussion on these features.

3.Set up component inventory items for your newly created kit item using the Kit Formula Maintenance function. Refer to the Create Kit Formula section for a detailed discussion in creating kit formulas.

4.If the newly created kit item requires prebuild, build the newly created kit item using the Build Kit Item function before shipment to customers. Refer to the Assemble Kit Items Requiring Prebuild section for the detailed discussion in building kit items requiring prebuild.

5.If the kit item does not require prebuild, you can automatically ship the kit item using the Ship Sales Order or Create Invoice function.

6.If you need to modify the kit formula for a kit item as ordered by the customer, you can customize the component items and quantities using the Create Sales Order function only. Refer to the Customized Kit Inventory Items for the detailed discussion in customizing kit items and building these customized kit items.
