Customized kit inventory items are kit inventory items whose kit formulae have been customized to meet the requirements of a particular sales order. The kit inventory item may require pre-building or not.

Note: Customized kit items that do not require pre-building are referred to as on-the-fly or non-prebuild kit items..

The process of shipping a customized kit inventory item follows:

1.Create a kit formula for the kit inventory item using the Kit Formula Maintenance function in the Inventory Control module.

2.Customize the kit inventory item in the Kit Formula tab when you create a sales order or sales quote in the Sales Order or Sales Quote function, respectively.

3.If the customized kit inventory item requires pre-building, build it using the Build Customized Kit Item function in the Inventory Control module.

Note: A customized kit inventory item that requires pre-building must first be built before it can be shipped.

4.Ship the customized kit inventory item using the Ship Sales Order function. If the customized kit inventory item does not require pre-building, you must enter a quantity to be shipped in the Ship Quantity field.

Note: If you will not proceed with the shipment of the customized kit inventory item that you have built using the Build Customized Kit Item function, you may disassemble them using the Disassemble Customized Kit Item function. Both functions can be accessed in the Inventory Control module.
