Sales Order > Customized Kit Items in Sales Order

The Build Customized Kit Item function allows you to build customized kit inventory items that require pre-assemble prior to shipment to customers. The effects of saving this transaction follow:

•It reduces the on-hand quantities of the component items that compose the customized kit inventory item.

•It increases the on-hand quantities of the customized kit inventory items by the number of units built.

•It transfers the costs of the component items to the customized kit inventory item’s cost balance. The amount transferred corresponds to the number of units built.

To build a customized kit inventory item requiring pre-build, perform the following steps:

1.Access the Build Customized Kit Item function from the Kit Item group under the Transactions main menu in the Inventory Control module.

2.Enter in the Warehouse field the warehouse where the component items will be obtained and where the assembled kit items will be stored.

3.In the SO # field, enter the number of the sales order that contains the customized kit inventory items which require pre-building. Alternatively, you may click the List box button to select the sales order number from a list. Once a valid sales order number is entered, the kit item # is displayed in the Kit Item # field.

4.Enter in the Specification field the item specification you want to build for the kit item. This field is only accessible if item specifications are assigned to the kit item you want to assemble.

5.In the Build Date field, accept or enter a date as to when the customized kit inventory item will be recorded as built.

6.In the Customized Kit Item page, you can specify the bin location where the assembled kit items will be stored. Refer to the Customized Kit Item Page section for more information.

7.In the Component Item Details page, you can review the component items used to build the customized kit item as well as the required quantity and costs. Refer to the Component Item Details Page section for more information.

8.If the components of the customized kit item you want to assemble is includes either a serialized or a lot-controlled item, you must select the component's serial number or lot number. Refer to the Special Component Items Page for more details.

9.After completing the needed information in building the customized kit inventory item, click the Save button in the Component Item Details page to save the transaction. If in case you want to cancel the transaction, go back to the Customized Kit Item page and click the Cancel button to discard all your entries on this screen.

Q. I want to change the quantities of the component items to build the customized kit item. How will I do this?

A. To amend the quantities of the component items, follow these steps:

1.Access the sales order in the Sales Order function and amend the sales order.

2.In the Line Items page, delete the customized kit inventory item which quantities of the component items that you want to change, and then add back the same kit inventory item.

3.Access the Kit Formula tab; then, amend the component item quantities.

Note : This procedure is applicable only if no units of the customized kit inventory item have been built.
