This section discusses the procedures for installing the Manufacturing (MA) module in AccountMate Enterprise.
Important points to remember in the installation of the MA module:
•Before installing the module, verify that your hardware and software resources meet the minimum system requirements.
•Be sure to install the license file.
•Setup the live company.
•Set up the group access rights and user access rights.
•Set up the fiscal period table.
MA Module as an Integrated Module
If the General Ledger module is installed and activated in the system, it must be the first module you set up in AccountMate Enterprise. The system does not allow you to set up the MA module until after you have completed the following steps:
1.Set up the GL module parameters within which you can utilize the GL module using the GL Module Setup function.
2.Create your company's Chart of Accounts and set up all the GL Account IDs that will be used in the Manufacturing module.
3.Assign specific GL account IDs that will become the default accounts used in various MA related transactions using the GL Account Selection function. The GL Account IDs for the following accounts must be set up:
•Inventory (Stock)
•Inventory WIP (Inventory Work-In-Process)
•Machine WIP (Machine Work-In-Process)
•Labor WIP (Labor Work-In-Process)
•Inventory Adjustments
•Machine Clearing
•Labor Clearing
•Production Cost Variances
•Overhead Allocation
•Change Order Expense
•Rework Expense
•Scrap Expense
After performing the steps above, you can then proceed to set up the MI module. Once you have activated the Manufacturing (MA) module, it is automatically integrated with the General Ledger (GL) module. Integrated modules can transfer or post GL account transactions in GL to any period of the future, current and prior fiscal year, except for restricted posting periods as defined in the General Ledger module.
When integrated with the Inventory Control (IC) module, you have the power of a complete inventory management system. Such module allows you to enjoy the features that come with it, such as the availability of several warehouses, various costing methods, unlimited units of measurement for an inventory item, availability of defined substitutes for component items with insufficient quantities, and usage of serialized and lot-controlled items in work orders, among others.
Integration with the Lot Control (LC) module allows the assignment of lot numbers and expiration dates to an inventory item for inventory-management and tracking purposes.
When integrated with the Sales Order (SO) module, you can easily create work orders from sales order data.
