AccountMate Enterprise supports different units of measurement to be used for an inventory item's storage, for purchases transactions, for sales transactions and for stocking. This page allows you to define and maintain the different units of measurement assigned for each inventory item. This gives the user more flexibility in handling inventories in the system.
To assign the unit of measurement for an inventory item, perform the following:
1.Enter in the following fields the appropriate unit of measurement for:
oStock U of M
Enter in this field a valid unit of measurement code for stocking this inventory item record. this unit of measurement will be used when handling inventories within the company (e.g. warehouse inventory transfers, physical inventory counts, etc.) For example, enter "EACH" if this inventory item will be individually packed. |
oSales U of M
Enter in this field the default unit of measurement that will be used for sales related transactions (e.g. creating sales orders, creating sales returns, etc.) For example, enter "6PACK" if this inventory item is priced and sold in packages of six. |
oStorage U of M
Enter in this field a valid unit of measurement that will be used when the inventory item is in storage. |
oPurchase U of M
Enter in this field a valid unit of measurement that will be used when you enter purchase related transactions in the system (e.g. creating purchase orders, return to vendor transactions, etc.) For example, enter “2PACK” if this inventory item is priced and purchased in packages of two (2). |

2.Mark the Use Authorized Units of Measurement checkbox if you want to configure AccountMate to use only authorized units of measurement explicitly assigned to the inventory item. Marking this checkbox will enable the Authorize U of M grid where you can define further additional units of measurement assigned to the inventory item for storage, sale or purchase transactions.
3.In the Authorize U of M grid, perform the following:
3.1. Click the Append row to end button in the grid toolbar to activate a new line in the grid. For subsequent warehouse entries, you may click the Append row to end button to activate a line in the grid or click the Insert row before current button to insert a blank line above the currently selected grid line. |
3.2. Enter in the U of M field a valid unit of measurement that you want to assign to the inventory item. Alternatively, you may click the List box button to display all available units of measurement records; then, click the option to select.. |
3.3. Mark or unmark the checkboxes under the Storage, Sales and Purchase column as necessary. |
