Use the Create Sales Return without Invoice # function to create a sales return without reference to the invoice against which it applies. This function will not credit the sales return against a particular invoice.

Various drillable fields, Lookup buttons, and Detailed Analysis buttons are available in this function screen. When you click any drillable fields in this function screen, the system automatically displays the corresponding Maintenance window. There are exceptions such as the following:
•If the Inventory Control module is not activated, the Warehouse Maintenance function is not available; you cannot drill down on the Warehouse field. You also cannot access the Detail Analysis of the In-transit field on the Line Items page.
•If the Manufacturing module is not activated, you cannot access the Detail Analysis of the In-process field in the Line Items page.
•If the Purchase Order module is not activated, you cannot access the Detail Analysis of the On-order Quantity field on the Line Items page.
To create a sales return without reference to an invoice number, perform the following steps:
1.Access the Create Sales Return without Invoice # function from the Sales Return group in the Transactions menu of the Accounts Receivable module.
2.In the Customer # field, enter the number of the customer for whom you will create the sales return. Alternatively, you may click the Lookup button to display a list of active customer records; then, click the customer code to select.
3.In the Information page, you may review and accept, enter or amend information applicable to the sales return transaction. For more information, refer to the Information Page section.
4.In the Line Items page, enter the line items for the sales return. For more information, refer to the Line Items Page section.
5.In the Payment/Bill/Ship page, provide the method of payment and review the billing and shipping addresses as well as contact information for the sales return. For more information, refer to the Payment/Bill/Ship Page section.
6.View or update the customer activities in the Activity page. Refer to the Activity Page section for more information.
7.In the Notes page, enter narrative information about the customer and for the sales return transaction. For more information, refer to the Notes Page section.
8.When you are ready to save this sales return transaction, click the Save button in the function toolbar to display the save confirmation window. If the Invoice Numbering in AR Module Setup is configured to:
oAutomatic
The invoice # is automatically assigned using the value in the Next Invoice # in AR Module Setup. |
oUser Input (Numeric)
The Invoice # field is enabled. Enter in this field the invoice # you want to assign to the sales return transaction. The default value comes from the the Next Invoice # field in the AR Module Setup function. Click the Save button after you enter the desired invoice # in the Invoice # field. |
9.Once the transaction is successfully saved, you may click any of these buttons in the save confirmation window:
oPreview
Click this button if you want to preview the invoice created for the sales return transaction. |
oPrint
Click this button to print the invoice created for the sales return. |
oApply Payment
Clicking this button will display the AR Apply Payment function, Payment Details page where you can proceed to apply payment for the invoice. For more details on how to process payments to customer invoices, refer to the Apply Payments to Invoices section. |
oNew
Click this button to close the save confirmation window and display the main function screen ready for a new transaction. |
oClose
This is the X button in the upper right corner of the save confirmation window. Click this button to close the window and the main function screen. |
