The Information Page of the Work Center Maintenance function allows you to set up basic information about the work center. You must also define in this page its status, outsource details, and the overhead calculation settings assigned to the work center.

To set up general information about this work center, perform the following steps in this page:

1.Click the List box button next to the Status field; then, select either the Active or the Inactive options. You cannot explode a master item on a work order or post work-in-process or finished job for work orders that entail usage of an inactive work center.

2.Mark the Outsourced checkbox if the task done in this work center is to be performed by a third party manufacturer; otherwise, leave it unmarked. This third party may or may not be set up as a vendor in AccountMate. If you mark this checkbox, you must also set the details in the following fields:

2.1. Enter in the Vendor # field the vendor from whom the work center is outsourced. You can enter a vendor code here only if the Purchase Order module is activated in the system.

Note: You may leave the Vendor # field blank; however, if you enter a vendor code and the work center record is saved, you cannot change the value in this field. The outsource vendor # is a one-time setup.

2.2. Enter in the Item # field the specific item that is manufactured in this outsourced work center. This field is enabled only if you enter a valid vendor code in the Vendor # field above.

3.In the Fixed OH Type, select from the following options:

Fixed Amount

% of Labor Cost

Rate per Worktime Hour

Rate per Machine Hour

4.Depending on the option you choose in the Fixed OH Type field, enter in the Fixed OH Rate field either the flat amount, percentage rate, rate per worktime hour or rate per machine hour, that will be applied in the overhead cost calculation of finished goods produced in this work center.

5.In the Variable OH Type field, select from the following options:

% of Labor Cost

Rate per Worktime Hour

Rate per Machine Hour

6.Depending on the option you select in the Variable OH Type field, enter in the Variable OH Rate field either the percentage rate of labor cost, rate per worktime hour or machine hour. The value entered in this field will be applied in the overhead cost calculation of finished goods produced in this work center.
