Set Up Warehouse

If you maintain more than one warehouse, you must set up different warehouse codes before you start setting up inventory item records. Using warehouse codes allows you to identify the warehouse or location where the inventory item is currently stored.

Note:  If the Warehouse Maintenance function is accessed for the very first time and there are no existing warehouse codes, the Information Page is automatically displayed; otherwise, the Search screen is displayed.

2.In the Warehouse Code field, enter a code that you want to assign to the new warehouse. This field accepts alphanumeric characters as a Warehouse Code.  For your convenience, choose a code that is easy to remember and helps you identify the warehouse location.  Once a valid code is entered in this field, the rest of the fields in this page is enabled.

3.Enter a brief narrative description of the warehouse code to help you easily identify the warehouse in the Description and Short Description fields.

4.Enter in the Plant ID field the number that will be used to identify the manufacturing location of the warehouse. The value entered here will form as one of the merge code options when creating serial # and lot # templates. This field is only enabled if the Manufacturing module is activated.

5.In the Information Page, enter the basic information required for the warehouse record. For more details, refer to the Information Page section.

6.In the Access Restrictions Page, specify the specific users or user group that are restricted to access or use the particular warehouse code in transactions. Go to the Access Restrictions Page section for more details.

7.When you are finished setting up the necessary information, save your entries by clicking the Save button from the maintenance toolbar.

Q. How can I set up a new Bin for all inventory items in a warehouse?

A. You can set up a new Bin in the Warehouse Maintenance in the IC module.  If you want the system to automatically add the new bin to each of the inventory items in that warehouse, click "yes" when the program prompts, "Do you want the newly added bins to be assigned to all the items carried in this warehouse?"  If your reply is "no," then you must access each inventory item's warehouse setup to attach the new bin to the individual items.
