Bin Item Movement

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

AccountMate Enterprise allows you to account for the movement of the same inventory item units from one bin to another bin in the same warehouse, without affecting the net on-hand quantity of the inventory item in the warehouse or any other inventory item using the Bin Item Movement function.

To transfer inventory items from one bin to another bin, perform the following:

1.Access the Bin Item Movement function from the Item Movement group under the Transactions menu of the Inventory Control module.

Note: Various drillable fields are available in this function screen. When you click any drillable fields in this function, the system automatically displays the corresponding Maintenance function screen.

2.Enter in the Warehouse field the warehouse code where the inventory item that you want to transfer is located. Alternatively, you may click the Lookup button to display the warehouse codes available; then, click on the option to select.

3.In the options beneath the Warehouse field, select either of the two methods by which you want to move items from this warehouse:

oBy Bin

Choose this option to transfer some or all inventory items from a particular bin to another bin. Selecting this option will change some of the succeeding field labels.

oBy Item

Choose this option to transfer only a specific inventory item.  Selecting this option will change the label of the succeeding field to Item #.

4.Depending on the selected option in the List box button, perform the step applicable to the transfer option selected:

oIf by Bin

Enter in the Bin # field the number of the bin where the inventory items you want to transfer are located.

oIf by Item

Enter in the Item # field the number of the inventory item you want to move. Alternatively, you may enter the item's barcode in the Barcode field either manually or using a barcode scanner. Note that the Barcode field is activated only if the By Item option is chosen. Once a valid barcode is entered in the Barcode field, a new line is activated in the Line Items grid and the corresponding item # is displayed in the Item # column. Successive barcode scans will automatically activate a new line in the grid and display the item's number in the Item # column. Note that this field is disabled if the Use Barcode Scanner is not activated. You can activate the Use Barcode Scanner feature in the IC Module Setup function.

Notes:

If you enter a bin number in the Bin # field, each inventory item stored in that bin is listed in the Line Items grid below.  If you enter an inventory item number in the Item # field, AccountMate lists in the grid each bin in the current warehouse that contains the selected inventory item and its corresponding on-hand quantity.

You cannot enter the inventory item number for a kit inventory item not requiring prebuild.

5.For items that have specification, enter in the Specification field the specification of the inventory item that you want to move. Alternatively, you may click the List box button to display the specifications available for the item entered in the Item # field; then, click the option to select.

6.In the Move To field, enter the new bin # where you want the inventory item transferred. Alternatively, you may click the List box button to display the bins available in the current warehouse; then, click the option to select.

7.Enter in the Move Date field the posting date when you move the inventory items from their old bins to the new bins.  The default value is the current system date.

8.In the Line Items grid, you can further select the transfer quantity for a specific inventory item to a specific bin. Select the option applicable to you:

Alternative #1:

To manually enter the transfer quantity for a specific inventory item, highlight the inventory item in the grid which units you want to transfer. Next, accept or amend in the To Bin column the default bin where the inventory item will be transferred. Note that the default value comes from the Move To field.

Note: The bin should carry the inventory item to be moved; otherwise, you will receive a warning message that the bin does not exist.

Alternative #2:

To manually transfer the desired quantity for the highlighted inventory item in the grid, enter in the Move Qty column the quantity of the inventory item you want to move from the bin specified in the From Bin column to the bin entered in the To Bin column. The quantity you enter must be a positive number that is less than or equal to the value indicated in the On-hand column.

If the item to be transferred is a serial, lot or kit item, you may double-click the Move Quantity field to display the Special nested tab in which you can further select the special item's quantity to be transferred. Refer to Alternative #4 for additional information regarding this.

Alternative #3:

To manually transfer the inventory item units to more than one bin, highlight the inventory item in the grid which units you want to transfer. Next, double-click on the Move Qty field and specify this field the number of units to be transferred to each bin.

Alternative #4:

If the inventory item you want to transfer is a serialized, lot or kit items, double-click the corresponding applicable reference code in the Special… field.  AccountMate will automatically display the Special nested tab in which you to select the serial, lot or kit numbers that correspond to these inventory item units, which will be transferred to another bin.

Click either of the following buttons above the grid to automatically transfer or reverse the transfers of all inventory item quantities in the grid:
