In AccountMate Enterprise’s Inventory Control module, it is important to create unit of measurement records for the following reasons:
•In creating inventory records, you need to assign a unit of measurement code to each item.
•With unit of measurement records, you can more properly assign related costs to each purchased or sold item.
•It also facilitates the efficient monitoring of required quantity levels of inventory items.
•You can also use the unit of measurement records in converting units of an inventory item stocked in one unit of measurement into the equivalent portion of the same item packaged in a different unit of measurement.
|
Examples of Unit of Measurement:
oEach
Use this unit of measurement if the inventory item is stocked and priced as individual pieces, such as one chair instead of a set of chairs. |
o6PACK
Use this unit of measurement if the cost and price of the inventory item is for a package of six pieces. |
oGAL
You may use this unit of measurement if you stock in gallons the unit of inventory items to which you applied this code. |
oGAL4
You may use this code if you repackage a gallon of inventory item into sets of four gallon containers. This could imply that the factor for this inventory item will be set at 4 for use in converting GAL4 to GAL. |
oQRT
You may use this unit of measurement code if you stock your items in quarts. |
oPAIR
You may assign this code to each unit of an item that is stocked in sets of two. For example, unit price is for the pair of shoes or light bulbs and not for an individual shoe or light bulb. |
