Before you create inventory item records in the system, you must first set up unit of measurement records. You will assign these unit of measurement records to your inventory items.
To set up unit of measurement records, perform the following:
1.Access the Unit of Measurement Maintenance function from the General Maintenance group under the Maintenance main menu in the Inventory Control module. Click the New button to create a new warehouse code record.
2.Enter in the U of M Code field the unit of measurement that you want to create (e.g. EACH, 2PACK). This field accepts alphanumeric characters as a U of M Code. For your convenience, choose a code that is easy to remember and helps you easily identify the unit of measurement. Once a valid code is entered in this field, the rest of the fields in this page is enabled.

3.In the Symbol field, enter a character or a group of characters that you want to signify as the symbol or short description of the unit of measurement entered in the U of M Code field.
4.Choose from the List box button adjacent to the Status field, the status of the unit of measurement code. Choose either of the two:
oActive
Choose this status if you want to be able to apply this unit of measurement to your inventory items. |
oInactive
Choose this status if this code is no longer available for assignment to your existing inventory items. |
5.Enter in the Description field a detailed description of the unit of measurement code entered in the U of M field of this function.
6.When you are finished setting up the necessary information, click the Save button to save the record.
