This section discusses the procedures for setting up the General Ledger (GL) module in AccountMate Enterprise for the first time.
Important points to remember in setting up the GL module:
1.Verify that your hardware and software resources meet the minimum system requirements.
2.Install the license file immediately after installing AccountMate Enterprise. Purchased modules are automatically activated once the license file is installed.
3.Set up the live company.
4.Set up the group and user access rights.
5.Set up the fiscal period table.
If there are other modules activated in the system, General Ledger should be the first module you set up in AccountMate. The system does not allow you to set up any other module until after you have completed the following steps in GL:
1.Set up the GL module parameters within which you can utilize the GL module using the GL Module Setup function.
2.Create your company's Chart of Accounts and set up all GL Account ID's that will be used in the General Ledger module.
3.Assign specific GL account IDs to GL accounts that will be used when posting GL related transactions using the GL Account Selection function.
After performing the steps above, you can now start recording transactions in the General Ledger. You can post GL account transactions to any period of the future, current and prior fiscal year, except for restricted posting periods as defined in GL. Once the GL module is set up, you can proceed to set up the rest of the integrated modules.
When you run General Ledger as a stand-alone module, that is, not integrated with any other AccountMate modules, take note of the following:
1.Ignore the View in summary entries coming from section when you set up and maintain the GL Account IDs in the Chart of Accounts Maintenance function.
2.Ignore the Posting Period Restrictions function under the Routine Tasks tab which allows you to restrict specific periods for further transfers or posting from modules other than General Ledger.
