Q. I have recorded the receipt of some lot-controlled inventory items in a purchase order but have not assigned these units with lot numbers upon receipt.  When I attempted to assign lot number using the Assign Lot Number by Item function, the warehouse field does not accept any entry and the rest of the fields are all grayed out? What did I miss?

A. For lot-controlled inventory items ordered and received in the Purchase Order module, you must use the Assign Lot Number by Purchase Order option. The Assign Lot Number by Item function must be used only for increase of on-hand quantity of lot-controlled inventory items that is recorded using either the Inventory Adjustment or Build Kit Item function.
