The Details tab is automatically displayed when you access the Journal Batch Entry function. It allows you to add, edit or delete a journal entry for as long as it is not yet posted in the General Ledger.
To add and edit journal entries in a batch, access the Details tab and perform the following steps:
1.Click the Append row to end button.
2.Enter in the Account ID field the GL Account ID to which you want to post the transaction's debit and credit entries. Alternatively, you can click the List box button in the field to select from a list of GL Account IDs set up for the company. Once you select a valid GL Account ID, AccountMate will automatically display the account description of the selected GL Account ID in the Account Description field.

3.Accept or amend, if necessary, the default values in the Description and Reference fields. The default values in these fields come from the Description and Reference fields, respectively, in the Defaults area.
4.In the Debit or Credit field, enter the amount of the transaction for the debit and credit entry lines.
5.To add another journal entry line, click the Append row to end button. You may also insert a journal entry line between two journal entry lines in the grid by highlighting a journal entry line and clicking the Insert row before current button.
Alternatively, you may copy the journal entry details from Microsoft Excel and paste it directly in the Details grid. To do this, perform the steps outlined in the Copy and Paste from Excel topic. |
6.If you want to delete a journal entry line from the grid, highlight the journal entry line that you want to delete and click the Delete selected rows button.
7.If you want to create a journal entry line from a journal entry template, click the Import journal entry template button. Be sure that there is an existing JE template for this function to work. For more information on how to create a journal entry template, refer to the Create Journal Entry Template section.
