The JE Template Maintenance function allows you to create journal entry templates which you can use when creating journal entry batches. You can specify in the journal entry templates the GL Account ID and the corresponding transaction amounts to be posted. This helps you to save time because you do not have to manually input all information each time you need to create the journal entry.
To create a journal entry template, perform the following steps:
.Access the Journal Entry group under the Transactions tab; then, select the JE Template option.
.Enter in the Journal Entry Template ID the number that you want to assign to the journal entry template.
.In the Description field, enter a general description for the journal entry template.
.Click the List box button in the Status field and indicate whether you want to set the journal entry template to Active or Inactive status.
.Click the Append row to end button.
.Enter in the Account ID field the GL Account ID to which you want to post the transaction's debit and credit entries. Alternatively, you can click the List box button in the field to select from a list of GL Account IDs set up for the company. Once you select a valid GL Account ID, AccountMate will automatically display the account description of the selected GL Account ID in the Account Description field.
.In the Debit or Credit field, enter the percentage that you want to assign to the corresponding GL Account ID. When this journal entry template is imported into a journal entry batch, the percentage that you indicated in this field will be multiplied to the amount in the Control Totals field of the Journal Batch Entry function to come up with the corresponding debit and credit amounts.
.To add another journal entry line, click the Append row to end button. You may also insert a journal entry line between two journal entry lines in the grid by highlighting a journal entry line and clicking the Insert row before current button.
.If you want to delete a journal entry line from the grid, highlight the journal entry line that you want to delete and click the Delete selected rows button.
.Once you have set up the journal entries in the template, click the Save button in the Transactions toolbar to save your changes; otherwise, click the Cancel button.
