Issue Component Items

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The Issue Component Items function allows you to issue quantities of the component items to a work order, which means these items are reserved for the production of the work order it is issued to and cannot be used by any other transaction. The Issue Component Items transaction can be done prior to recording the work order to in-process.

Issuing component items will move the issued quantity out of the source bin into a "simulated" bin that represents the work center assigned to the specified Step # where the component is used. Quantities of items issued to work orders are reflected in the Issued Quantity field in the item's maintenance record.

Note: Various drillable fields and Lookup buttons are available in this function window. When you click on any drillable field in this function window, the system automatically displays the corresponding Maintenance window. When you right-click or left-click on any Lookup button, the system displays the corresponding Key Search or Full Text Search window, respectively. For more information about these drillable fields and Lookup buttons, refer to the Understanding AccountMate Symbols section.

To issue component items to a work order, perform the following steps:

Note: If you have the Inventory Control module, have activated the Use Barcode Scanner feature in the IC Module Setup, you can use a barcode scanner to locate the work order # represented by the barcode. A Barcode field will be displayed above the Component Items grid in this function and you can scan SKU or UPC barcode IDs of the master items whose components you want to issue.

2.Enter in the Warehouse field the warehouse assigned to the work order for which you want to issue component items. Alternatively, you may click the Lookup button to display the Search window where you can select a warehouse code. The warehouses that will show in this window are those that have active work order transactions assigned that are not voided and not yet finished. Once a valid warehouse is entered, applicable fields will become enabled.

Notes:

If the Inventory Control module is not activated, this field is read only and shows the default main warehouse.

If the Inventory Control module is not activated, you cannot drill-down on the Warehouse and U of M fields. In addition, you cannot click their corresponding Lookup buttons as the Warehouse Maintenance and Unit-of-Measurement Maintenance functions are not available.

3.In the Work Order # field, enter the work order that you want to issue component items. Alternatively, you may click the List box button to select the work order from the list. The work orders that will show in the list are those that are active and assigned to the warehouse selected, with at least one component item that is assigned to a Step # that is not yet done.

4.In the Issue Date field, accept or amend the default date which is the current system date. The date entered in this field is the date used as the transaction date.
