Return Issued Components

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

There are instances where component item quantities issued to a work order are unused and need to be returned to a warehouse bin that you select. This transaction simply means that the component items' return quantity is moved out of the “simulated” bin that represents the Work Center assigned to the specified Step # and into the selected return Bin. The returned component item quantity becomes part of the item's available quantity.

To return issued component items, perform the following steps:

1.Access the Return Issued Components function from the Item Issuance group under the Transactions main menu in the Manufacturing module.

2.Enter in the Warehouse field the warehouse assigned to the work order from which you want to return the issued component items. Alternatively, you may click the Lookup button to display the Search window where you can select a warehouse code. The warehouses that will show in this window are those that have active work order transactions assigned that are not voided or not yet finished. Once a valid warehouse is entered, applicable fields will become enabled.

Notes:

If the Inventory Control module is not activated, this field is read only and shows the default main warehouse.

If the Inventory Control module is not activated, you cannot drill-down on the Warehouse and U of M fields. In addition, you cannot click their corresponding Lookup buttons as the Warehouse Maintenance and Unit-of-Measurement Maintenance functions are not available.

3.In the Work Order # field, enter the work order from whose component item issued quantity you want to return. Alternatively, you may click the List box button to select the work order from the list. The work orders that will show in the list are those that are active and assigned to the warehouse selected, and has at least one component item with an Issued Quantity that is not zero.

4.In the Return Date field, accept or amend the default date which is the current system date. The date entered in this field is the date used as the transaction date.

5.In the Default Return Bin area, you can set the default bin where you want the return component item quantity to be stored. However, you can overwrite this selection by entering the specific bin in the Bin field in the Component Item's grid.

6.The Component Items grid displays all the component items of the selected work order that has an issued quantity of at least 1 units or more. You may review the details of the components assigned to the work order you selected. Clicking the underlined field labels in the grid will access the maintenance record of the respective field.

7.To manually specify the return quantity per component item, enter in the Return Quantity field the number of item units you want to return. Alternatively, you may use the following buttons in the Component Items grid toolbar:

oReturn All

Click this button to simultaneously set the Return Quantity as the sum of the items' issued quantity less the used quantity for all the component items in the grid.

oReturn None
