To efficiently manage the storage of various items, you need to properly monitor the stock levels separately for each item and forecast a projected reorder quantity if a certain level of stock quantity is reached. In this manner, you can easily forecast and manage your selling and purchasing operations.
To set up the safety stock level, reorder points, and reorder quantities for various items, perform the following procedures:
1.Access the Inventory Reorder Quantity Update function from the Mass Update group under the Maintenance menu in the Inventory Control module.

2.In the first field displayed on the screen, select the option by which you want to update the item's reorder quantity. Click the List box button in the first field, and select one of the following options:
•Update Safety Stock
•Update Reorder Point
•Update Reorder Quantity
3.In the Selection Criteria area, select the inventory items for which you want to update reorder quantity values. Set parameters for each of the following:
oWarehouse
Click the List box button to select either All or Range option. Choose All option to update all warehouses; otherwise, select Range option and enter in the From/To fields a range of warehouses for which you want to update reorder quantity values. |
oItem #
Click the List box button to select either All or Range option. Choose All option to update all inventory item; otherwise, select Range option and enter in the From/To fields a range of inventory items for which you want to update reorder quantity values. |
oItem Class
Click the List box button to select either All or Range option. Choose All option to update all classes of inventory items; otherwise, select Range option and enter in the From/To fields a range of classes of inventory items for which you want to update reorder quantity values. |
oProduct Line
Click the List box button to select either All or Range option. Choose All option to update all product lines; otherwise, select Range option and enter in the From/To fields a range of product lines for inventory items for which you want to update reorder quantity values. |
4.Select from the following options the inventory items you want to include in the reorder quantity update:
•Include All Items
•Include Only Items Used in Purchase Orders
•Include Only Items Used in Work Orders
5.To specify the parameters for the update, perform the steps outlined in the respective sections based on your selected option in the first field on this function screen:
6.Click the Next button to proceed. The Update Reorder Quantity page is automatically displayed which allows you to review, amend, and save the new safety stock quantities, new reorder points, or new reorder quantities for the selected inventory items.
7.Review the information in the Update Reorder Qty grid. The Old Safety Stock, Old Reorder Point and Old Reorder Quantity columns show the inventory items' old values prior to the update.
8.In the New Safety Stock, New Reorder Point, or New Reorder Qty column, review the new safety stock quantity, reorder point, or reorder quantity for each inventory item. If you want to amend the new safety stock quantities, reorder points, or reorder quantities, simply enter in the New Safety Stock, New Reorder Point, or New Reorder Qty column the desired new safety stock, reorder point, or reorder quantity, respectively, for each inventory item.
9.To make any change to the item(s) affected or to the parameters you defined to update the item reorder quantities, you may click the Back button to return to the Selection Criteria page; then, make the necessary changes, as applicable. To proceed, perform Step #6 again.
10.When you are ready, click the Save button to save the applicable new item safety stock levels, reorder points, or reorder quantities; otherwise, click Cancel to discard all changes.
