Create New Sort Option

The Report Designer allows you to create new sort options that you can use in any report that you create using the tool. This section discusses the procedure on how to add a new report sorting option.

 

 

To create a new sort option, perform the steps below:

 

1.Click on a report name to expand the report tree view.

 

2.Point the mouse cursor on the report's sort and filter heading; then, right-click on your mouse. In the drop-down list that appears, select New Sort Option. A new window will then appear.

 

3.In the Select Sort Option screen, click the Sort Source drop-down list to select the data field that will be used as the basis for this sorting option.

 

4.Enter in the Sort Name field the name you wish to name the new sort option.

 

5.Mark the appropriate checkbox in the Available in area. These options represents the different types of report:

 

Detail

Sub Total

Total

 

6.The List of available layout area displays all the layouts available for the report. Select the layout that you wish to make this sorting option available for use. To select, click on a report layout name on the (left) List box area; then, click the > button. To select all the report layouts available, click the >> button. The selected report layouts will be automatically displayed in the (right) List box area. To edit or remove a report layout from the (right) List box area, simply click on the layout name that you wish to remove; then, click the < button. To remove all the layouts from the (right) List box area to start over, click the << button.

 

7.Click Next to proceed.

 

8.In the Select Sort Filter screen, perform the following:

 

oAdd

Click this button to add a new sort filter. Clicking the Add button will automatically display the Add Filters window. The Add Filters window allows you to create new filters or add existing filters to the sort option currently being created or updated.

 

oRemove

Click this button to delete an existing sort filter from the available options list. Simply highlight a sort filter from the list, then; click the Remove button.

 

oCopy

Click this button to copy an existing sort filter.

 

oDetails

Click the Details button to display the Edit Filter window where you can view the details of the sort filter.

 

9.You may click the Previous button at anytime to review or make changes to your previous selections.

 

10.When you are done with your selections, click Finish to save your entries; otherwise, click Cancel.
