The Component Items page in the Record Work-in-Process function allows you to review and/or amend the component items as well as the used quantity of each that is necessary to produce or manufacture the master item. The default information displayed in this page comes from the work order transaction record. This page is accessible only if Work Type selected in the Routing Steps page is "Cycle"; otherwise, this page is not accessible.
Perform the following in this page:
1.Enter in the Def. Bin field the default bin location where you want to store the in-process quantities of the master item.
2.The Barcode field is enabled only if the Use Barcode Scanner setting is activated in the Inventory Control module. This field will show the component item's barcode if you use a scanner to enter items in the Component Items grid. Alternatively, you may also use this field to manually enter the component item's barcode.
3.Enter in the Qty Processed field the number of master item units you are working on in the selected routing step's production process. If the Batch Size is Known checkbox setting is not marked, this field is disabled and shows a value of 0.
4.In the Qty Rejected field, enter the number of master item units that are bad or damaged during the production process of the selected routing step. These damaged units, which includes all of the components, are eventually rejected.
5.Review the values shown in the Batch Count and U of M fields. These are for reference use only.
6.In the Component Items grid, review and, accept or amend the component inventory items that are required for the selected routing step you are recording as work-in-process. You may perform the following:
6.1. To add a new component item, activate a new blank line in the grid by clicking the Append row to end button. |
For subsequent grid entries, you may click the Append row to end button to activate a new blank line in the grid or click the Insert row before current button to insert a blank line above the currently selected line in the grid. |
6.2. For new component items, enter appropriate values in the following fields: |
oComponent Item #
Enter in the Component Item # field the number of the inventory that will be used as component in manufacturing the master item. Alternatively, you may click the Lookup button to select an inventory item from the Search window. Once an item # is selected, its corresponding item description will be displayed in the Description field. |

oSpecifications
If the component item has specifications, enter in the Specification field the item's specification that will be used. |
oU of M
Accept or amend the value in the U of M field. To amend, click the List box button to select a different unit-of-measurement from the drop-down list. |
oUsed Quantity
Enter in the Used Quantity field the component item units that you will use in the production of the selected routing step. The used quantity cannot be more than the quantity you issued for the component item for the selected step. |
oScrap Quantity
Enter in the Scrap Quantity field the units of the scrap item that is produced from the component item after processing the selected step. |
oBin
Enter in this field bin location where the component inventory item units that will be used are stored. Alternatively, you may click the List box button to select the bin from a drop-down list. You can use either from the issued units (marked with the work center's code) or from a different bin. |
oSpecial
If the component item is either a serialized or lot-controlled item, this field shows the word "SN" or ""LOT", respectively. Clicking on the word will open the Special tab which shows the item's available serial or lot numbers for you to choose from. |
6.3. To delete a line in the grid, select the line that you want to delete; then, click the Delete button in the grid toolbar. . |
7.Click the Show/Hide (
) button beside the Component Item # field to show the following:
oBin tab
This tab shows the bins in the selected warehouse that has available units as well as the issued units of the selected component item. The values in this tab are for reference use only. |
oSpecial tab
This tab is accessible only if the component item is either serialized or lot-controlled. It shows the item's available serial or lot numbers where you can choose the units you will use when you process the selected routing step. |
